This residential project in Kalispell's Westside neighborhood transformed a sloped, underutilized backyard into a fully integrated outdoor living space. Cold Iron Hardscapes was brought in to design and install a 1,840-square-foot travertine paver patio, a multi-tiered Keystone retaining wall system, a custom built-in outdoor kitchen, and a circular fieldstone fire pit — all coordinated into a single cohesive design that flows naturally from the home's rear exterior.
The site presented a significant grade challenge, with approximately 4.5 feet of elevation change across the rear yard. Our crew engineered a two-level patio layout using Keystone's Premier retaining wall blocks to create defined tiers, ensuring long-term structural integrity while eliminating erosion concerns. Drainage was installed concurrently with base prep to manage Montana's freeze-thaw cycles and protect the paver investment for decades.
